as on the other side of the earth! You are refreshed! You are thrilled! You are excited! You are motivated! You are challenged! You... are ready to begin!!!
Sooner or later (usually sooner), it dawns on you that if your ministry is truly going to be effective, you “desper- ately” need “help”! (Preachers, can I hear an “Amen!”?)
It is reassuring to know that if God has given us a vision, “sooner or later,” He will be faithful to send others our way to get “under the burden” with us, so we will be able to fulfill our vision.
Isn’t it “music to our ears” when “someone” even hints at joining our ministry team? At just the mention of help, how our hearts begin to pound, and our minds race to those tasks we have been wanting to begin (or even fin- ish), but because of the lack of staff, we have been unable to move forward!
Finally, it happens! After we let out a big sigh of relief, our normal reaction is to pinch ourselves to see if we are merely dreaming! No, it’s true, someone is really express- ing a desire to alleviate some of the heavy, heavy burden we have been toiling under for so long (you can see I’ve been there).
When others offer to help us, isn’t it a struggle to keep from quickly nodding our head in assent, then fervently grabbing them and welcoming them to our staff (before they come to their senses and change their minds)?
Important as it is to have other members of the body of Christ working with us, it’s just as important to remem- ber that “when God is the one sending them to us,” poten- tial staff members will “agree to the walk” before they take the first step with us.
