helped to keep their marriage strong all these years. As he paused for a moment near his favorite place beside a big oak tree, he suddenly realized he had just
answered the rabbi’s question.
“That’s it! It’s all so simple! Why hadn’t he thought of
it sooner? The missing ingredient among the rabbi’s staff members was the POWER OF AGREEMENT!”
He clapped his hands together with joy as he realized that his friend never needed to be troubled with this same problem again. It could be resolved so very easily! Instead of allowing disagreement to flourish, the rabbi must have this same power of agreement with everyone working with him in his ministry! All these years, the power of agreement had worked successfully for him and his wife, and it could work for the rabbi as well! Why hadn’t he thought of it sooner?
While Amos was pondering this new thought, one
of his grandsons came bounding out of the door of the house and into his arms to welcome him home. After hugging his grandson, the grandfather and grandson team walked hand in hand the final steps of “the walk” to his home and his wife of many happy years.
“How can two walk together, unless they agree?” mut- tered Amos softly as he sat down to the supper table.
His wife said, “I’m sorry, I didn’t hear you.”
“Oh, that’s all right dear,” said Amos very tenderly. “It was nothing at all, except this looks like one of the best suppers you’ve ever made.”
She smiled as they all bowed their heads while Amos gave thanks for the meal... and how quickly God had an- swered the rabbi’s prayer.
“Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” Amos
