Can you think back to a time when this Scripture seemed to be true concerning a church or ministry split in which you were involved?
I imagine most of us can probably remember a time when we found ourselves sadly paraphrasing these same famous words by Amos, “How can we work together, if we believe so differently?”
When I entered the ministry full-time, I was well aware that many of the ministers I would encounter would believe differently than I do. This usually is not a problem among most denominational members (al- though I know even they have their minor differences).
For instance, you may encounter those who are ada- mant about the doctrine of “eternal security”; while others believe it is possible to lose their salvation in the time it takes them to walk from the altar to their pews. Some Christians may believe you must “speak in tongues” to be filled with the Holy Ghost; while others feel speaking in tongues is optional, or even unscriptural. Some baptize
by sprinkling a little water over their babies; while others baptize by immersing their converts in water. There still
is a mixed multitude concerning whether to say Mat- thew 28:19 or Acts 2:38 during baptism. Some worship
on Saturday; while others meet every Sunday. To get to heaven, some believe Christians must wear long sleeves, no make-up and no shorts; while others are of the opinion that a bikini will do just fine. Then there are those who believe the Lord is coming before the tribulation, others are persuaded He will come in the middle, some believe
