thing quite unusual that enters into this equation. Adam and Eve were the only humans who ever had
bodies that were produced by the very hands of God. Their bodies may have been stronger than their off-
spring. After all, God had made them.
Do you remember how God told Adam and Eve to be
fruitful and multiply? There are those who believe that Eve had hundreds of children and thousands of grandchildren.
I wonder how many of you mothers would like to have hundreds of children? I didn’t think so.
If Adam and Eve were 130 years old when their first child was born, which it seems they were, and, if God bless- ed this couple with another child every 3 years, they would have had 266.6 children. We’ll leave out the .6 of a child and round it off to 266 children. Now that’s a big family!
So... Adam loves to tell his great, great, great, great, great, great grandson about what happened when Eve and him lived in the garden of Eden.
I believe Adam was always ready to tell the story over to anyone who would listen.
So Adam begins to tell little Enoch the same story that he has told so many times, but he never becomes weary of telling it, and Enoch never tires of hearing it.
“Well, grandson this is how it was when we lived in the Garden of Eden. Every day, about sunset, when your grand- mother and I finished taking care of the garden at the close of the day, that’s when it happened in the cool of the day.”
And then Adam probably pauses with a wistful, far- away look in his eyes, as if staring out towards the fields, but actually looking beyond the fields.
Grandpa Adam is remembering, reminiscing about how things used to be in the good old days. It kind of sounds like how some of us talk today, doesn’t it?
