Proverbs 18:24 informs us, that God,
... is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.
We don’t know what happened at this first meeting, nor any of the other future meetings, for it is not for us to know. Whatever happened was between these two mutual friends.
One thing is for sure. When Enoch came back home, the world no longer looked the same to him. What had caught his interest in the past... now meant absolutely nothing to him. News... sports... public interest... fashion, what men lie for... steal for... and even kill for... no longer had any attraction to Enoch. Where he used to go held no interest to him. What he used to do no longer drew him. When he looked at what he had gained in 65 years of living, it meant absolutely nothing to him.
No, Enoch could not settle down and continue living like he used to live, like other men live. No, he couldn’t do it. For Enoch was no longer interested in the pursuits of men. He had stepped up into a higher calling! When we too have an encounter with God, we can never again live the same.
No. He no longer could be satisfied with just living. His life had to account for more than just being a farmer or a business owner or something else. Now he is fer- vently pursuing God and everything else... but God grew strangely dim.
A church service for 90 minutes once a week would never satisfy Enoch. A little devotional in the morning could no longer meet Enoch’s need. A little “lay-me-down-
