Select Performance pumps are precision machined and engineered to meet the demands of high-performance applications. Early model pumps have hardened steel gears fit to phosphate-coated cast iron housings, while late model units utilize hardened steel rotors fit to hard coat anodized aluminum housings. Pumps with "ST" suffix include patented billet Shark Tooth gears for improved performance. Some race versions have machined grooves to reduce cavitation at high RPM (grooves slightly reduce pressure at idle). Chevy pumps (except Gen. III/IV LS) include intermediate shaft.
