Coronavirus is a large family of
virus that is found in animals
and humans. In humans,
coronavirus causes respiratory
infections, and sometimes
even severe diseases such
as MERS, and acronym for
Middle East Respiratory
Syndrome and Severe Acute
Respiratory Syndrome or
SARS. The official name for
this disease is COVID-19.
The SARS virus was an
epidemic that affected mainly
the population of China and
Hong-Kong. The affect of the How Does It Spread?
virus subsided in 2003. MERS

contaminated surfaces. The virus spreads more easily that
SARS and is sustainable. While the contaminated objects and
surfaces can transmit the virus the chances are very low, and
they are not the significant modes of transmission. Usually
the virus travels through droplets that a person produces
when the infected person talks or cough. The individual
could also be asymptomatic.
How Deadly Is It?
Reports say that Novel Coronavirus, or COVID-19 is less
lethal that SARS that killed about 10 percent of the infected
people back in 2002. However, the epidemiologists are still
trying to figure out the actual fatality rate of the virus. While
COVID-19 does have a lower fatality rate, older people and
those with other illness such as high blood pressure, and
diabetes are at a higher risk of the disease. Children are also
more prone to getting infected. How individuals respond is
also an influencing factor.
