The main idea is the most important

sentence in a passage, which tells

the reader about what will happen in

the text. Not just that, it is also like

the heart of the paragraph. The main

idea is not always the first sentence.

It might be the second sentence or

the last sentence of the text.

                                                            What is SUPPORTING DETAILS

The supporting details describe the main

idea. It contains facts, statements, and

examples which guide us to a full

understanding of the main idea. They

                              clarify, illuminate, explain, describe,

expand, and illustrate the main idea. So,

the main idea becomes stronger and

                                                                                         clearer.
