Coping With Covid-19
Circuit breaker is a trying time,
A trying time it is;
Here's how I spent this time,
With some complaints, but mostly bliss.
NO, we couldn’t go out to play,
For there is a virus out there they say;
Oh! What a waste of a sunny day,
Instead, my mom and I baked away;
Cakes, puddings and pastry,
To keep the blues at bay!
NO, we couldn’t go to a mall,
For they said it will make you ill;
Instead we stayed home at will,
Did some experiments with a ball,
Why does it float or sink in a bowl?
NO, we couldn’t go out to meet friends,
For we had to wait as Earth mends;
Instead, my sister and I sketched,
Beautiful patterns on canvass stretched!
NO, we couldn’t go to school,
For the virus outside was uncool;
Instead we strolled in the park
Wearing a mask till dusk!
NO, we couldn’t go for playdates
Till the virus abates;
Instead we made slime and a mess,
Until Dad asked, “what's the fuss?”
We played lots of board games,
Monopoly, chess and puzzles,
Until the tiny bright star dazzles!
YES, we complained and cribbed,
But learnt to appreciate what we had.
Thank God for the real heroes,
Doctors, nurses and sanitation workers,
Who worked tirelessly while we ate crackers!
