n a personal level, 2020 was the most challenging year in my lifetime
and I am glad that it is now behind us. There is a light at the end of the
Otunnel with the vaccines becoming available and, thankfully, we are on
the road to some type of normalcy.

For the chamber, it was an equally difficult year, but we kept going and for that I am
very grateful. So many of our members pitched in to help our community cope with
the painful repercussions of this global pandemic. Contributions and donations
varied from feeding and providing clothing and essentials to those in need to
supplying iPads to students who were not equipped for the distance learning that
became the norm and much more. Thank you for letting me be a part of that effort
and a big thank you to our board members and Linda Jenkins for their steadfast
dedication to keeping the Chamber doors virtually open.

The silver lining to 2020 was the alliances developed and the bridges created toward
building a stronger Encino, hence our 2021 installation theme, “Encino Strong.”
We are a better Chamber and stronger community as a result of the struggles we
        endured last year.

So a warm welcome to Gail Pekelis as we wish her a very successful and prosperous
        2021!
