"Back pay" is defined as payment for work done in the past that wa:
withheld at the time, or for work that could have been done had th
worker not been prevented from doing so.

At one time in your life, you may have been \entitled to "back pay'
There was a time that government workers were placed on furlough an1
was promised back pay during the period we received no pay. Howev
er, months passed with excuse after excuse, and yet we never receive,
the pay that was due us. But for the most part, back pay earned is bac:
      pay received.
                                                                                              ' ,
There were instances in the Bible that we can say individuals receive,
"back pay". Some thought they would never get anything for the labo
lthey had done. They worked for countless numbers of years receiving
"handouts" possibly garlic, onions, melons and maybe a fish or two l
but nothing to boast about. Many received nothing but the privilege o
scratching for themselves. God saw them working untiringly - nig
and day - sick or well - dirt tired - carrying unimaginable loads - bein
                                                                          1
beaten for not working fast enough, hard enough, long enough. Go<!I
:saw it all, and yet God had "back pay" in mind for them.

I am reminded of the Israelites when God looked down upon them and
saw all their misery. He saw them in the worse slave mentality as coul,
be imagined. He saw some wanting to praise Him openly and yet were
     forbidden.
2 Peter 2:9 says, "The Lord knoweth /,ow to deliver the godly out l!j
temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to b,
unished: ,, I like the first three words of this scripture . . . "Th~
ord knoweth ... '' The word "knoweth" denotes a continuation),
lwhich means The Lord still knows! The Lord still knows how to del
liver, reserve and bring out. God put the plan in place to deliver Hi
,eople out of the hands of the Pharaoh of that day; and God had chose
lhis leader - Moses - to be the man in front hearing, listening and heedl
     ,ing the instructions for deliverance.
