publication.
Jan finished Philly Girl during the last nine months of her
life. During this time and throughout the four years of her
cancer treatment, we received tremendous support from our
community—relatives, friends, neighbors, Jan’s book club,
the Rhythm and Motion dance community—the many
overlapping circles of friendships that sustained us. And I
include the medical community at UCSF and Stanford, the
oncologists, symptom management doctors, and angels on
earth—the infusion nursing staff. I cannot even begin to tell
you how important this network of generous caring people
meant to Jan and to me.
