Tips for Entering Information
To uphold the standards of a university with a top tier international reputation, always steer
toward formality rather than informality.
The ability to order your stationery products online is a convenience and a major time saver for
you. Given the immense diversity of needs in a comprehensive university such as Emory, please
recognize that no online template will satisfy 100% of your needs. If you run into a situation
where the online form won’t accomplish what you’re trying to do, we ask that you not force it to
create an “out of standard” layout. This will only result in a delay to your job. Let us help you.

On business cards, text to the right of the vertical line builds up from the bottom and must not
rise above the top of the word EMORY in the left hand logo. If you find the text going too high,
look for ways to economize on the number of lines.
Do not use periods in degrees and certifications. “PhD” rather than “Ph.D.”
Main and Secondary Affiliations:
The Main affiliation is the primary area, department or other university entity that
you’re affiliated with, such as “Department of Anthropology,” “Campus Life,” or
“Division of Finance.”
The Secondary affiliation is one within and under the main affiliation. If you have
another separate affiliation that is separate or on the same level as your main affiliation,
include that in the same field as Main. Some examples:
Department of Psychology (Main) Department of Medicine (Main)
Child Study Center (Secondary) Division of Cardiology (Secondary)
Emory Transplant Center (Main)
Atlanta VA Medical Center (Main, 2nd but separate/equal weight affiliation)
