WESTMORELAND PARK SKATEPARK
 Skatepark Shortage
Dallas has a skatepark shortage. Currently, the City of Dallas has only one (1) existing skatepark for a population of 1,288,000. One completed park puts Dallas far behind every other major Texas city; San Antonio has 16 skateparks, Houston has eight, Ft. Worth has four, and Austin has three. According to the Dallas Parks Department, the city needs 15 skate parks to meet the demands of its population.
Plans are well underway for a new skatepark in Oak Cliff that is "all wheels," meaning it will be a facility designed to allow skateboarders, bikers, roller skaters, scooter-ers, and any other wheeled vehicle to participate. There has been a wave of support for the park, because the sport has evolved into something the whole family can participate in.
