WESTMORELAND PARK SKATEPARK
The Area
The only existing skatepark in the Dallas area is located in Lakeland Hills Park in East Dallas. The skatepark will be the single largest investment made in Westmoreland Park since its inception in the 1950s. JR Huerta, the District 1 representative for the Park and Recreation Board, said that "parks are an equalizer for community members," and he hopes a skate park in Oak Cliff will shine a light on the community.
The 75211 zip code in southwest Oak Cliff, where the park is located, has a population of 75,213, the 30th most populated zip code in the state of Texas. Injecting capital into the park and creating a recreational destination will benefit area merchants, Park Creek Manor apartment residents, the children at Lenore Kirk Hall Elementary School, and the entirety of Oak Cliff.
