Or the way they look at – and through you…
Besides there are so many different materials you can work with. Not only to place a
picture, a portrait of something on paper or canvas – there are so many other
possibilities, from stones, wood, porcelain or Easter eggs. And the ‘instruments’ you can
use are also very different, from different paint brushes and pencils to feathers or fingers,
depending on the material for colouring you use, from oil and acrylics to chalk, wax
colours of natural colouring materials like the juice of a plant.
But the two passions, one for the hound and the other for ‘catching’ their beauty in art
have accompanied me over the years. And catching is a word I chose because I prefer
working in front of the actual object to copying it from a photo, even if sometimes there is
no other possibility. Drawing a sketch of these strong and beautiful, elegant and light-
footed Oriental hounds is an exciting pleasure that I hope I will be enjoying for many
more years.
