Our Journey to Magnet Why Now?
We are ready- All of your hard work has put us in the perfect position to formally start this journey. We have the full support of the Board. Nursing excellence is everywhere within our walls.
More and more nurses want to work at Magnet facilities, and we want to be the employer of choice for nurses.
We are obsessed with providing the best care and experience to our patients. Our organization-wide efforts on customer service and on Always Thinking Ahead for our patients is in line with Magnet principles.
Safety is a core value and we must find ways to eliminate preventable harm. Magnet will help us get there.
Magnet Status = Empowered Nurses = Better Patient Outcomes
Highest honor awarded by ANCC to nationally recognize nurses’ ability to provide quality patient care and initiate innovations in professional nursing practice.
Next Steps...
Application
First formal step in the process

We need to submit certain documents at the time of application, ex: Org chart, list of databases we use to measure NSI and Patient Satisfaction, Educational eligibility table
Submission of the Document

Site Visit
Once it is determined that the written documentation scores are within the range of excellence, a site visit is conducted
The appraisers evaluate that the sources of evidence are enculturated throughout the institution
Commission on Magnet (COM) Recognition Decision
Once the site visit has been completed, the COM reviews the final report submitted by the appraisers
Decision is based on whether the hospital has met the threshold for excellence
