hold their attention and smooth things over if necessary,

§ If you are not addressing a conflict-generating subject, then
written communication is fine, but it is always good to follow-up and make sure it was read. And put whatever was agreed to in writing.
§ When writing to a Nine, don’t give them too many tasks, too much information, too many instructions, too many topics to respond to in a single communication. That can overload and overwhelm them. However, if in doubt, more is better than too little. Communications that are too short can be misinterpreted as abrupt or angry. Make sure to open with a few kind words in your greeting to set the stage.

discomfort. Nines are your optimistic, easy going kind of folks who, instead of riling things up, prefer to calm things down and build consensus. A few mottos that are associated with PRINT Nines, “let it be” or “don’t worry, be happy.”
In Best Self, when they like to have peace and harmony in their lives and they’re just cool about getting it, Nines have some really wonderful qualities associated with them. However, like all the other major PRINTs, when they become compulsive or excessive under stress and they must have peace and harmony in their lives, they can choose a set of behaviors which unfortunately moves them into their shadow side and can have an adverse impact on themselves and others.
So, on the one hand PRINT Nines in Best Self make few impositions on people and they like to keep a low profile. They’re ‘go with the flow’ kind of folks and they’re very happy doing so. They like smooth sailing, they want everybody to get along. They generally don’t take aggressive positions; they don’t speak in an overtly strong tone; they generally will
avoid and try not to say things that could antagonize or create conflict. A lot of times they don’t have very strong opinions or, if they have them, they don’t necessarily share them and they like to keep things even. They’re okay letting other people make decisions. They are good at listening and providing support.
What happens when a Nine's way of making few impositions and keeping a low profile is taken to extreme? In Shadow, Nines can become overly accommodating individuals and take on others’ needs and agendas too much. They can be very unassertive and in fact, they actually fail to speak out in their own behalf. It’s not that they don’t have opinions, but they don’t share them. A Nine in Shadow may begin to build a resentment because their opinions get passed over.
When they are in Shadow, Nines will sometimes let people get away with too many things because they’re trying to accommodate them and they’re not asserting themselves. When they do this too often or are in extreme Shadow, they can have passive aggressive tendencies.
