SHEFOCH - HALLEL
After drinking the third cup, pour the fourth cup immediately. At this point it is also customary to
pour an additional cup for Eliyahu HaNavi. It is placed at the centre of the table and nobody drinks
from it. The fourth cup is held throughout the entire recitation of Hallel.
Pour Your wrath upon the nations that do not recognize You and
upon kingdoms that do not invoke Your Name. For they have
devoured the Yaakov and destroyed His habitation.
Not unto us, O HASHEM, not unto us, but unto Your name give
glory, for Your mercy, and fr Your truth’s sake. Wherefore should
the nations say: ‘Where is now their God?’ But our God is in the
heavens; whatsoever pleased Him He has done. Their idols are
silver and gold, the work of men’s hands. They have mouths, but they speak not; eyes have they,
but they see not; They have ears, but they hear not; noses have they, but they smell not; They
have hands, but they handle not; feet have they, but they walk not; neither speak they with their
throat. They that make them shall be like unto them; yea, every one that trust in them. O Israel,
trust you in HASHEM! He is their help and their shield! O house of Aaron, trust in HASHEM! He
is their help and their shield! Those that fear HASHEM, trust in HASHEM! He is their help and
their shield.
HASHEM has been mindful of us, He will bless He will bless the house of Israel; He will bless the
house of Aaron. He will bless them that fear HASHEM, both small and great. HASHEM increase
you more and more, you and your children. Blessed be you of HASHEM who made heaven and
earth. The heavens are the heavens of HASHEM; but the earth has He given to the children of
men. The dead praise not HASHEM, neither any that go down into silence; But we will bless
HASHEM from this time forth and forever. Halleluyah.
I love that HASHEM should hear my voice and my supplications. Because He has inclined His
ear unto me, therefore will I call upon Him all my days. The cords of death compassed me, and
the straits of the nether-world got hold upon me; I found trouble and sorrow. But I called upon
the name of HASHEM: ‘I beseech You, O HASHEM, deliver my soul.’ Gracious is HASHEM, and
righteous; yea, our God is compassionate. HASHEM preserves the simple; I was brought low, and
He saved me. Return, O my soul, unto Your rest; for HASHEM has dealt bountifully with you. For
you hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from stumbling. I shall
walk before HASHEM in the lands of the living. I trusted even when I spoke: ‘I am greatly afflicted’.
I said in my haste: ‘All men are liars’.
