        GIRLS SOCCER RECAP
VARSITY GIRLS SOCCER
We had an incredible season with our only losses coming to top- ranked Providence Day in competitive matches that were decided toward the end of play. This team was one of the closest ever. They loved being together and supported one another through some tough injuries and other obstacles. Our goal is always to win states and we very nearly did it!!
JUNIOR VARSITY GIRLS SOCCER
The 2021 JV girls’ soccer team finished with an overall record of 5-4- 3. The season presented many challenges to the squad but each and every time the players approached the challenge with grit and resilience, demonstrating true passion and desire with their play and encouragement of each other. The team operated under the “we” before “me” mantra and bought into the philosophy of sharing the ball and helping teammates to find the game and assert them- selves for the greater goal of team success. To this end, of the 22 goals we scored this year, all 22 of them were assisted! Additionally, as the season progressed, so too did our level of play. Facing some of our tougher opponents at the end of the season, we played our best soccer in those games, ending with a decisive 2-1 win during which we shared the ball in creative ways, finished with confidence and defended soundly.
MIDDLE SCHOOL SOCCER
The Hawks had a strong season, finishing with a record of 6-2-2. With 26 goals scored, we proved to be an offensive threat with a strong central midfield that dominated play. The majority of these goals were scored by captain Eleanor Fisher, with 12 balls in the net. Newcomer Claire Zhang scored 6 and combined with the steady, dominant play of captain Maggie Hyder in the defensive midfield. In total, 8 different players found the back of the net this season which was a testament to how hard they worked in practice. Conceding only 14 goals, we were stingy with denying other teams opportuni- ties in the box.
