4. Extension to Literature William Shakespeare
William Shakespeare was an English poet and writer; and considered by some to be the greatest playwright of all time. He wrote wonderful plays for the theater. Shakespeare also preformed as a professional actor in London.
It is unclear when he was born, but we do know he was baptized in 1594 in Stratford-upon-Avon in the United Kingdom. It is incredible to think that Shakespeare lived more than 400 years ago, and people today still perform and see his plays all over the world.
When he was 18, he married Ann Hathaway, a woman 8 years older than him.
Some of his most famous plays are Hamlet, Macbeth, and Romeo and Juliet.
Have you ever heard the following quotes?
“To be, or not to be; that is the question”
”O Romeo, Romeo! Wherefore art thou Romeo?”
These quotes are some of the most famous lines of all times; the first one is from Hamlet and the second one from Romeo and Juliet.
