A Descriptive Essay will portray a person, place, topic or event in a way that the reader will feel, hear and see what the author has felt, heard or seen. It creates a picture of what the author is describing.
• Use sensory details. (Details that appeal to your senses)
ExAMPLE: The apple was sweet, bursting with flavor. (taste)
• Use adjectives that best describe your subject.
• Use comparison and contrast.
• Use words to describe colors, size, weight, etc.
• Try to make it exciting, so the reader will be interested in your description.
Now you will write a descriptive essay using the writing process.

PREWRITING:
• First, you have to decide what you are going to write about: an event, a place, a person, etc.
• Brainstorm details of what you want to describe.
• Start writing as many details as you can, they don’t have to be in
order, later you will decide which ones you will use.
• Your details can be objective or subjective (these are the ones
where you express your opinion).
