• Remember to avoid plagiarism, which means to steal someone else´s work and passing it as your own. Instead of copying the information try reading it and paraphrasing it (writing it in your own words).
Citing a book:
a) Write the author´s last name, first name, followed by a period.
b) Write the title of the book italicized or underlined followed by a period.
c) Write where the book was published followed by a colon.
d) Next, you will write who published the book followed by a comma.
e) Finally, write the year of the publication.
Example:
Becher, Arthur E. The Works of Edgar Allan Poe. New York- P.F. Collier & Son, 1903.
Citing a website:
a) Write the author´s name followed by a period.
b) Write the title of the page you are using not the title of the website, use quotation marks followed by a period.
c) Write the website´s name italicized.
d) Include the date you accessed the information followed by a period.
e) Write down the URL of the website followed by a period.
Example:
Edgar Allan Poe. (2012, July 3). In Wikipedia, The Free Encyclopedia. Retrieved 21:42, July 8, 2012. http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Edgar_Allan_Poe&oldid=500427546
If you consider you have enough information start writing your outline. Write the main ideas you will include in your paper, put them in the order you want them to appear in your final report.
