3. Language Main and Helping Verbs
a verb is a word or group of words that expresses action or being. a verb phrase is made up by two or more verbs.
a main verb is the most important word in the verb phrase.
a helping verb helps the main verb to tell about an action.
Words such as, not, always, never appear between a helping verb and a main verb. Main and Helping Verbs
Examples:
hans serves his master.
(serves is the verb)
hans has served his master for seven years.
(has served is the verb phrase, has is a helping verb, and served is the main verb)
