Bartolomeu Dias, a Portuguese navigator circumnavigates the southern tip of Africa, naming it The Cape of Good Hope.

Vasco de Gama as a successor of Dias is sent on an expedition to sail the coast of South Africa as a sea route to India. They land in South Africa on November 8th.
