This year, 209 women were challenged as they studied through our Training Centres. They adapted well to learning remotely and have grown in their character and understanding. Our women field workers continue to serve with compassion and dedication. Through them, thousands of lives have been impacted. Thank you for standing with them.
Empart is reaching out to 10 slum communities to empower the women living there. A new initiative encourages people to see their daughters as beautiful, precious gifts.
‘An equal world is an enabled world.’ This was
the theme of a special program we organised for International Women’s Day. Approximately 500 women from 10 slums gathered to be encouraged and empowered through dance, songs and speeches. The aim was to help women understand their worth and value.
The Sanitary Napkin project changed its focus slightly this year. The women made 2,500 sanitary napkins, but they also sewed 12,000 masks to give to people as part of the COVID-19 awareness programs. Two Skills Centres taught tailoring skills to 21 women but had to close during lockdown.
This year a functional literacy program was introduced to teach 25 women how to read and write. “I felt ashamed that I was unable to read and to write. Due to this, I was even unable to help my children. But now, after attending the literacy program, I can sit with my children and read and write whatever they study!” said an excited Mrs P*.
