grandeur, to the ravages of the Civil War and the rebirth of
reconstruction. Just upriver is St. Joseph Plantation, one of the few
fully intact sugar cane plantations in the region. Tour the Manor
Home, original slave cabins, a detached kitchen, blacksmith’s shop,
carpenter’s shed, and schoolhouse.
