DESTREHAN PLANTATION

Bring your students to Destrehan Plantation for a meaningful look
at daily life in early Louisiana. The guided house tour focuses on
the work, routines, and experiences of both free and enslaved

people who lived on the property. Students will walk through
original rooms, view period furnishings, and learn about the roles
people held in and around the house. Exhibits showcasing the 1811
Slave Revolt and the Freedmen’s Colony round out the experience.

After the tour, choose to either enjoy a group-friendly lunch at the
Indigo Café or book Spuddy’s Cajun Cooking demonstration for a
fun and flavorful culinary experience
