A FEAST OF SOUTHERN DELIGHTS
RUSTON
HEARD FREIGHTHOUSE FOOD PARK: A COMMUNITY TABLE
Nestled in the heart of downtown Ruston sits a food truck park dedicated to using local, fresh ingredients to deliver one-of-a-kind flavors
to the area. Started in 2015, Heard Freighthouse Food Park has easily become a staple dining spot in Ruston, LA. There you will find
businessmen, college students, family, and friends congregating around picnic tables. Desi Bourgeois, owner, founder, and chef can be
seen flipping burgers or serving up freshly made focaccia bread sandwiches from his food trucks, Grown & Grazed and Staple Sandwich
Co. Bourgeois developed Heard Freighthouse Food Park with a nod to the location’s history as a grocery distribution warehouse and has
plans for continued development of the space. The food park currently houses 6 food trucks that each boast their own unique cuisine
including new-age BBQ, authentic Mexican, southern soul food, savory sandwiches, authentic Chinese, and hand-crafted burgers.
LOUISIANA PEACH FESTIVAL: A HOMEGROWN MUSIC AND ARTS FESTIVAL
The Louisiana Peach Festival is a long-standing Ruston tradition dating back to 1951. The festival was created by area peach farmers as
a way to promote their industry and the delicious peaches they produced in Lincoln Parish. In 2021, event coordination changed hands
with the goal of continuing the festival’s legacy as a celebration of Ruston’s local talent and delicious peaches. The revived festival sees
tens of thousands of attendees annually who flock to Downtown Ruston on the first Saturday in June to discover the homegrown flavors,
art, music, and culture of Ruston and Lincoln Parish. Indulge your taste buds with a scoop of peach ice cream or a bourbon peach pulled
pork sandwich, all while enjoying 12+ hours of live music and the works of hundreds of art vendors. And you can’t leave town without
paying a visit to Mitcham Farms Peach Orchard for their famous “Ruston Red” peaches and a tour of the largest peach orchard in
Louisiana.
