THE NORTHSHORE
SHORE TO BE TASTEFUL
From waterfront dining and seafood specialties to comfort food and international cuisines, The Northshore’s diverse culinary scene has some-
thing for everyone to enjoy. Known for an exceptional array of waterfront dining experiences, perfect for soaking in scenic views while enjoying
delicious meals, The Northshore offers loads of fresh Louisiana seafood at restaurants, markets and at events, too. From the elegant bayou
setting of Palmettos on the Bayou in Slidell to the historic charm and lakefront vistas at Pat’s Rest Awhile in Mandeville, each location de-
livers a unique ambiance alongside perfectly plated dishes. Diners can relax with views of the Tchefuncte River at The Anchor in Madisonville
9
or enjoy casual fare at The Chimes, which features a boardwalk that leads to the Bogue Falaya River in Covington.
SHORE TO BE DELIGHTFUL
Liz’s Where Y’at Diner in Mandeville serves up all-day breakfast and New Orleans-style favorites with flair, while LOLA in Covington puts a
modern twist on Louisiana classics in a charming, historic train depot. LOLA is known for its delectable sweets, and its made-from-scratch fare
created by chefs Keith and Nealy Frentz. Southside Café in Slidell is a longtime local favorite known for its generous portions, laid-back vibe
and military memorabilia. For soul-satisfying comfort food, Creole Sisters in Slidell delivers dishes full of flavor and heart.
The Northshore culinary scene extends beyond restaurants. Savor locally-grown produce and regional specialties at farmers markets, enjoy
Northshore-brewed beers, such as Abita Brewery’s AndyGator or Chafunkta Brewing Company’s InVINCEible Ale, at a brewpub,
and local wines at Wild Bush Farm + Vineyard.
SHORE TO BE SAVORED
Chef Pat Gallagher’s other establishments, Gallagher’s Grill (Covington), Pat Gallagher’s 527 Restaurant & Bar (Mandeville), and Gal-
lagher’s on Front Street (Slidell), are renowned for their expertly prepared steaks and fresh Louisiana seafood. Del Porto Ristorante, led
by the husband-and-wife team David and Torre Solazzo, presents contemporary Italian cuisine with house-made pastas and locally sourced
ingredients in a refined setting in downtown Covington. The Solazzos also converted a former Greyhound bus terminal into a global-style
gastropub, called – you guessed it – The Greyhound. Valencia brings the vibrant flavors of Spain to Covington’s doorstep, offering dishes
like paella and tapas that showcase the subtle yet striking flavors of Spanish cuisine. Tavi, an Israeli restaurant, delights guests with modern
Middle Eastern dishes, including wood-fired pita and elaborately finished hummus plates, all served in a stylish and inviting atmosphere.
