A mix of the past and present. A tribute from BEST Magazine and BEST Group to a country that has allowed us to belong and become proud Canadians.
2017 is the year of celebration for the 150th year since the establishment of the initial Confederation in 1867 known as “The Dominion of Canada”. Today, even 150 years later Canada stands tall as a role model and exemplar country for the rest of the world in all aspects of respect and comfort as a country, economy and political system.
As of 1860-1870 the Canadian population was around 3 million habitants, where 80% lived in what is now known as Provinces Ontario and Quebec. Many other cities were as well growing and were mostly classified in the “Upper” or “Lower” Canada.
Today, Canada is close to 35 million habitants more spread around the country, although Ontario and Quebec continue being extremely powerful in their population and economic stand point. Based of the 2011 census, Ontario is home to one third of the

habitants; as well as being the industrial heart to the country with the second biggest automobile industry in America after Detroit.
zThe financial services and the real estate, as well as the insurance industry are extremely important for the economy of the province of Ontario and the entire country. It is also a potent agro-industrial force worldwide. The name of the province of Ontario comes from Lake Ontario’s, as “Ontario” means beautiful waters in Iroquoian languages.
