The Toronto Maple Leafs,
the famous hockey team had
a different name between 1919
and 1922, the Toronto St. Patrick’s
(St. Pats). The team was founded in 1917
in Montreal. They have won the Stanley cup 13 times. The last time they won was in 1967, only 50 years ago!
In 1932, at the age of 32 Dr. Fredrick Banting was awarded the Nobel Prize in Medicine. Working with Dr. Charles Best they discovered insulin in 1921. Banting was a doctor, physician, and painter and continues
being the youngest to have been awarded.

In 1994 by law the Canadian Parliament named the national sport by season, naming Hockey as the national winter sport and Lacrosse the national summer
sport.
