By Karla and Beverly McCulloch
Congratulations to Minister Trammell Caston, who was honored at The Mattie Brewer McCulloch 50 Over 50 Gala celebrating Black Achievement! The Gala was held on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at the Bossier Civic Center in Bossier City, Louisiana. This distinguished event recognized, honored, and celebrated, 50 African American leaders, all age 50 and over, for their courageous, compassionate, and selfless acts of service in various sectors, including, religion, education, music, arts, and community service. Minister Caston was presented this prestigious award by Beverly and Karla McCulloch, the managers of KOKA Radio Station, and the daughters of the late Sister Mattie Brewer McCulloch. The award was also presented by Mr. Don Jackson and Dr. Teresa Jackson, CEO/Founders of the
Stellar Gospel Music Awards. The honorees and attendees enjoyed an exquisite evening filled with inspiring stories and live entertainment.
Born February 26, 1944, to the late Willie Caston Sr. and Lula Mae Kelly Caston, Trammell is the proud son of a family rooted in service and faith. His father, known as Uncle Bill, was a beloved voice on KANB Radio and the Hallelujah Train. Trammell graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1966 and went on to serve 21 years at Schumpert Medical Center in Environmental Services before retiring at age 59.
For more than 60 years, Trammell has been a dedicated member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, faithfully participating in the Male Chorus and Sunday School. He is also a regular at the MLK Center, a place he truly enjoys. Although born with cerebral palsy, Trammell has led a fulfilling life—navigating unique challenges with determination, support, and steadfast faith. His personal journey has not only strengthened his resilience but also deepened his relationship with God, embodying the truth of Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ which strengthened me.” Trammell Caston’s life is a testament to endurance, faith, and the joy of serving both God and community, a true example of perseverance. Hats off to Minister Trammell Caston, a truly loving, courageous and
diligent Servant of the Lord!
