“Carrakids”
Our Carrakids stay in our hearts and continue to make us proud! Carrousel Brenda Atkinson-Willoughby’s
son, Charles Willoughby Jr. (Chip), was promoted to deputy chief for the Major Crimes Division in the District of
Columbia office. Carrousel Jeanette Conrad-Ellis’ daughter, Blair Ellis, graduated from Vanderbilt University
with a 3.6 GPA in neuroscience and accepted a fellowship at NIHD on the campus of Johns Hopkins Hospital.
Carrousel Yolande Hackney-Wright’s daughter, Christin Hackney, will be attending Physician Assistant
school at the University of Pittsburgh. Carrousel Vernice Jones’ son, Maxwell Jones, will graduate with a 4.0
in math and artificial intelligence from Carnegie Mellon University and is wait listed in the PhD program at the
Massachusetts Institute of Technology .
Finally, we also mourned and grieved with our Carrousel sisters. We were saddened by the passing of Carrousel
Leslie Simmons Warner’s beloved father Robert L. Simmons, MD who transitioned on August 21, 2022. We
continue to grieve with Carrousel Tisha Hyter whose cherished father passed away on March 30, 2023.
As we spring into summer, the Washington, D.C. Chapter plans to continue our tradition of letting the good times
roll and supporting each other!
