D. KIND OF SUBJECT-VERB AGREEMENT
1. Do not let a phrase between the subject and the
verb trick you. The subject is what the verb
agrees with, not a noun or pronoun in the phrase.

One of the ➢ The subject in this sentence is
gifts is open. "one," not "gifts."
➢ Since the subject is "one", the
verb must be "is."
