Develop strong community partnerships
We believe this is the fiber of our amazing community. We embrace using outside resources, invite
outside organizations to join with us and we partner with other community events to serve our
citizens. But our most valuable resource is volunteers, everything from coaches to water station
attendants. People getting involved is so powerful.
Improve access with technology
Online registration has been a great addition, and we jumped out of our comfort zone during covid
and offered a virtual recreation center. It’s hard for recreation people who are people focused to
not have face to face interaction, but we do understand to grow & meet goals we must provide
options for all.
Marketing & Community
In the past few years, we have really upped our social media presence, built an e-mail community
within our online system, business bulletin boards, newsletters, service group meetings and
currently redesigning our activity guide. We are always trying to stay fresh and visible.
Safety & security
Sadly, as we all know this is an extremely important piece for the staff and participants. We are
focusing on staff trainings (which includes volunteers), facility maintenance and security for events.
Adapt to rapidly changing needs
As a department we understand that needs will change & evolve as we grow, and feedback &
surveys will help guide our future decisions.
Long-term strategic planning
To grow and have space to provide the type of programs our community demands now and into the
future, land for future opportunities is very important.
Improving the delivery of recreation services in a rapidly growing community requires thoughtful
planning, innovation and collaboration. As a city department, we are always excited to embrace
new challenges and opportunities that allow us to better serve the community. We are appreciative
and grateful for the trust and support of the people we serve.
