I was just dozing off to sleep, he said when I heard some carnival music. It sounded very
happy and jolly so I opened my eyes to see where it was coming from, and across the creek
I could see that a circus troupe was setting up! Ooh, how exciting, I thought to meself.
I crossed the bridge to the other side of the creek and went and introduced myself to the circus
folk. There were elephants and lions, clowns and trapeze artists and a big brightly coloured tent
they were in the process of putting up. I asked if I could help them ‘cause I’m a helpful type of
fella. While we were working away, the elephant handler asked me if I’d like to be involved in
the show because his dog Juniper who normally performed with his elephant, Sabre was not
feeling well. “Wow, sure I said – that would be an honour!”
