                                    “  Is  Mrs.  Bagley  at  home ? ”

                                        In  her  pleasure  in  seeing  him  she  for­

                                    got  Peggy,  and  looked  up  in  his  face
                                    and  laughed;  and  if  his  eyes  had  not

                                    been  fastened  upon  the  advancing  fig­

                                    ure  of  Mrs.  Bagley  he  would  certainly
                                    have  discovered  that  this  merry  child

                                    was  Wilifred,  instead  of  the  shy,  mel­

                                    ancholy  little  creature  he  had  left  at

                                     home.
                                        Before  she  could  obey  the  impulse

                                     that  urged  her  to  fling  herself  into  his

                                     arms  Mrs.  Bagley  came  forward,  and.

                                     motioning  her  to  go  down  stairs  again,
                                     led  the  Doctor  into  the  parlor,

                                        Wilifred  ran  off,  feeling  that  after  all

                                     she  was  very  glad  she  had  not  betrayed
