Bronx GEAR UP Network 2019-2020 Services
Counseling/Advisement
ACRCs offer assistance on coursework, test preparation, SAT preparation, college choice, career choices and other topics. The program has been honed and customized by Bronx Institute staff, as well as education professionals recruited from across New York City. Their advisement is offered at different times based on your school schedule. Speak to your ACRC for advisement times.
Financial Aid Counseling
Members of Ponce Bank and TD Bank have committed to working with BGUN students and providing financial aid counseling services. Counseling sessions focus on a wide variety of topics—such as financial planning and opening a college savings plan—and will be led by both ACRCs and professionals from these banks.
Comprehensive Mentoring
Twelfth grade GEAR UP Ambassadors meet with groups of students in 10th and 11th grade. GEAR UP Ambassadors provide academic guidance to students, and keep them updated about GEAR UP programs and upcoming events, such as college trips, educational field trips, and workshops at the New York Botanical Garden and the Bronx Zoo/Wildlife Conservation Society.
