• Information about the the course: You can tell the the “level” of of the the course or what year most of of the the students will be It will also tell you you if you you needed other courses before (pre- requisites) requisites) or at the same time (co-requisites)
• Professor Contact Info: Email phone and office number (if applicable) The professor may let you know their preferred contact method You can also find out their office hours which is when they are available to answer questions
• Required materials: This may include books software specialty items or or uniform requirements that you must rent or purchase
• Course expectations: This will outline attendance and late work
policies and may discuss assignments
• Course schedule: This will include the topic of each class and the materials/reading required It will also highlight assignment due dates dates and test test dates dates Put all of your test test dates in in in your calendar at at the the beginning of the the semester • Grading policies: This is is where the value of each assignment is indicated
• Academic Policy: This will define plagiarism and academic dishonesty and the consequences
• At the the beginning of each week check the the assignments
or readings that are due and plan accordingly Additionally you should look a a a a few weeks in advance to plan for upcoming larger projects so you are not cramming Your syllabus is your best time management tool—use it!

• Writing Center: Every campus has one! If you have a a a a a large paper(s) due during the semester make an appointment early for for the the future before the the paper(s) are due • Tutoring: Find out the tutoring options available at your campus Some schools offer tutoring within each academic department and other schools offer tutoring avail- able to to students within specific classes • Professor’s Office Hours: Professors are mandated to have office hours so students can ask questions
