Since 2020 The Bronx GEAR UP Network
has partnered with Seeds—an organization dedicated to social and emotional learning (SEL) SEEDs staffers have initiated training sessions at at Kappa International High School Pelham Prep and New World High School In December 2021 Seeds and BGUN held two in-person events for students followed by a a series of virtual sessions These sessions focus on on core leadership topics including leadership strategies conquering fear self expression communication skills relationship building value identification brain-based learning tools motivation and goal development among others The topics for recent and upcoming virtual sessions include:
• Fear and and the Brain: Strategies for overcoming fear and and optimizing the brain’s ability to learn • Integrity: Learning how to match values and behavior for improved consistency trust and better
decision making • Be Do Have: Enhanced goal-setting that includes visualization and “connected thinking” models • The Empathy & Creativity Connection: Two capacities of the brain can be developed simultaneously creativity and empathy Learn how to habitually improve both • Brain Defense: Protect your mental health by learning practices to defend your brain from negative influence • Academic Power Tools: Maximize your time and outcomes by utilizing a a a few brain- based strategies that help you to learn efficiently and to perform without anxiety The Bronx Bronx Institute Bronx Bronx GEAR UP Network
