Our partners at The New York Public
Library are presenting a Green Initiative
to improve The Bronx environmentally!
We are thrilled to help introduce their new sustainably- designed project, The Bronx Library Center.
In its construction of the Bronx Public Library Center, the New York Public Library sought to comply with standards outlined by the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) rating system established by the U.S Green Building Council, a coalition of building industry leaders based in Washington, DC.

GEAR UP kids have also achieved strong academic success. “GEAR UP kids from the Bronx Institute have succeeded in high school and gone on to college at a significantly higher percentage than non- participating students in the rest of the city,” says Bronx Institute Deputy Director, Bruce Irushalmi. “Our work with Bronx schools is consistent with President Fernandez’s vision of how the college should work within the community”.

PROGRAM BASICS
The GEAR UP Program provides Bronx students with the academic support, skills, inspiration and the preparation needed to pursue and succeed in post secondary education. We address the needs of Bronx students through the coordination of services and programs that build a sense of community among students, schools, their families and post secondary institutions.
