$113,375 Grant to Help Victims of Abuse
C•A•T•S, in partnership with Strength
United, received a $113,375 grant from
the California Office of Emergency Services
Child Advocacy Center (KC) Program to
provide a multidisciplinary response to
victims of child abuse. The 21-year
partnership between C•A•T•S and Strength
United resulted in the development of the
first Family Justice Center in Los Angeles
County. The KC Program aims to fund the
process for the Family Justice Center to be
an accredited Child Advocacy Center in California.
NHMC Participates in National Crime Victims Week
To celebrate National Crime Victim’s Week , April 7-13, Northridge Hospital’s Center for Healthier Communities and Center for Assault Treatment Services joined with other local agencies in promoting Crime Victim’s rights, especially for those who are human trafficked or are victims of sexual assault/abuse and/or domestic violence. Utilizing a Zuevision bus, they made stops throughout the week
at select sites around the San Fernando Valley – Van Nuys, Canoga Park, North Hollywood and even a stop at Northridge Hospital –
to hand out resource information, talk about victims’ rights, and spread awareness for national Crime Victims’ Rights Week.
We also thank our participating agencies who joined with us, including:
Combating Childhood Obesity with
the Saucony Run for Good Foundation Adult and childhood obesity/overweight ranked as the second highest need in
our 2016 Community Health Needs Assessment. The Saucony Run for Good Foundation is helping to fill that need
with a $10,000 grant awarded to Northridge Hospital’s Center for Healthier Communities. Under our Community and School Wellness Initiative, this funding
for the new #VictoriousKids program is supporting two youth-based running clubs at Los Angeles Unified School District
Title 1 schools with high childhood
obesity rates. Children participating in
the 20-week program receive both strength training and safe running techniques.
