2022 EMPLOYEE SPIRIT OF GIVING CAMPAIGN RAISES $233,048!
The Employee “Spirit of Giving” Partners Program is Northridge Hospital Foundation’s annual campaign that allows employees to get involved by making charitable contributions to support Northridge Hospital’s programs and services. Employees who participate send a profound message to the community that employees not only work here, but also truly believe in the hospital’s mission. We are proud to announce that this year we had 277 employees participate in our Employee “Spirit of Giving” Campaign who collectively helped raise $233,048!
Being one of the leading hospitals in the San Fernando Valley, there are always changing needs for the hospital to continue to meet our high standards and stay technologically advanced. Northridge Hospital Foundation is dedicated to helping pave the way.
Grace Leland Recognition
and Appreciation Event
Grace Leland, aka “Mother Grace” was honored for her 67 years of service to Northridge Hospital at her Recognition and Appreciation Event this past June.
While Grace initially protested
the hospital’s construction in the
1950s, stating concerns about noisy ambulance sirens, she had a change of heart when she saw a “Help Wanted” ad. She was hired on the spot and became an irreplaceable, one-woman operation. As a staff and patient advocate, Grace raised money for patients and coworkers in need while working in medical records, admitting, human re- sources, and as a switchboard operator. She witnessed
the construction of four new towers and worked under eight hospital presidents who kept her on her toes.
In 1979, Grace was named the VP of Hospital Relations,
a role in which she nurtured relationships with physicians she affectionately called her “boys” (and girls). Not surprisingly, ambulance sirens became a sound of pride
to her, knowing lives were being saved at her hospital.
“Grace embodied the true meaning of her name,” shared Jahandar Saleh, MD, Past Medical Staff President.
“She went out of her way every day to offer compassion, love, and kindness to the medical staff and to others
at Northridge Hospital,
and leaves behind an unparalleled legacy.”
Nina Hirsch, Director, Medical Services, received the first-ever Grace Leland Appreciation Award, which will be presented during Hospital and Nurse Week each year
 A Special Thank You
to our Employee Ambassadors
“The pandemic has reiterated to us the love, gratitude, and empathy we have for our families, friends, and our community. I am blessed to be amongst the company
of exceptional, compassionate nurses I call my family. As a family, we not only take care of one another, but of those in our community beyond their health care needs. A giving hand is also a receiving hand. Alone we can do so little, but together we can do so much. Not only am I proud to be a nurse, I am honored to be an ambassador for the employee “Spirit of Giving” partner
program. A group of our ICU nurses have joined together to create a positive change that extends beyond the hospital”
