We must ask:
Can you truly own a medicine that grows from the
commons of life?
3. Centralized Profits vs. Distributed Production
Edible biologics open the door to hyperlocal
manufacturing. But decentralized growth threatens
centralized profit.
Will companies support:
• Community-owned growth hubs?
• Open-source production protocols?
• Regional compounding cooperatives?
Or will they require:
• Every leaf to be licensed?
• Every batch to be tracked?
• Every local grower to enter a complex legal
framework?
The tension is clear:
What if the most scalable, ethical way to expand access is
to let go of control?
A New Ethics for an Age of Abundance
If we treat edible biologics as just another delivery tweak—
another formulation to be marketed, tiered, and rationed—
we will squander the revolution.
