LATCH & GREAT ORMOND STREET HOSPITAL – UNDY AFC CHARITIES 2022
We’re delighted to announce that our Charities for 2022 will be Latch and Great Ormond Street Hospital. We will be working with Rob and Kate Morgan as they try to raise as much money as possible for these charities that are very special to their family.
Kate explains “Olivia was born in the Royal Gwent Hospital two days before Christmas. Soon after she was born the Doctors noticed that her heart was failing and beating way too fast. On Boxing Day, she was transferred to Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) where she had life saving treatment the next day. She had a very rare condition called Vein of Galen Malformation which caused her heart to fail and caused her to have three strokes. She had this treated three times and cured of the condition. Great Ormond Street was only one of two hospitals that could treat this rare condition.
Unfortunately, when she was 2years old she was diagnosed with Acute Promyelocitic Leukaemia. There she faced six months of intense chemotherapy and then maintenance chemo for the following two years. This is where “Latch” stepped in and supported us throughout Olivia’s journey.
They offered us a place to stay, took her brothers out and endless treats for Olivia. They made a stressful time a little easier. We have had endless trips back to GOSH to have birth mark treatment, laser treatment and more recently plastic surgery to her chin and lip. We will be forever grateful for these two wonderful charities and this is the reason why we are trying to raise as much money for them so they can carry on supporting children and their families.”
The Morgan family have been part of our Club for many years, with son Jack being a current player who has featured at first team level already. It is therefore our pleasure to try and help in any way we can.
Please watch out for opportunities to support these great charities as we look to hold functions throughout the year. They’ve already made a start by serving up breakfast rolls at the club on a Sunday morning so a great excuse to head over to watch some junior football!
We will keep you updated on social media and thank you in advance for your support.
