Darian, still holding me close, started sobbing, his cries of sorrow echoing through the night. All I could do is let him grieve for the people who should have died a long time ago. By some miracle someone was in the area and called for the Guild’s Mercenaries. Two hours after our escape we were found and brought to the closest town with medical equipment, Grünstadt. Darain was in shock and was treated in the town's Kranken Station, a small hospital. I was also checked by some doctors but besides being physically exhausted, nothing else was wrong. Darian and I were put in a two bed hospital room and a day after our arrival some detectives asked us some questions about Arasta Village. Darian wasn’t much help and I just backed up his story, lying through my teeth. I hid the scroll under my mattress when I first arrived, worried someone would confiscate it. Late at night I opened the window and climbed onto the roof, holding the scroll between my teeth. I made myself comfortable and with a click of my fingers summoned a small flame and finally read the angel’s last words.
To the stranger reading this, I wish to thank you. You have freed me and the people of this village from my selfish curse. A long time ago I was banished from the heavens and that very village took me in. I loved them all and they adored me. But one day calamity struck and an earthquake awakened a dormant underground volcano right underneath us. With the last of my power I started a time loop and my body became the host of the spell.
