Greetings!
Congratulations on your 45th Annual Metro Founders Day Celebration. On behalf of the Montgomery County Council, I wish you continued success as you celebrate this momentous occasion.
As you reflect on your Metro Founders Day along with the founding of your fraternity 110 years ago at Indiana University, you have chosen the theme of “Revitalizing the Dream, Reenergizing the Bond.” The COVID-19 pandemic, economic instability and ongoing instances of racial injustice and inequities have left our country in a state of turmoil and unrest. In some ways, our society doesn’t look drastically different than it did 110 years ago. To continue to move forward, it is imperative that we all “Revitalize the Dream and Reenergize the Bond.”
The College Park/Sandy Spring Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. has been an important asset to Montgomery County and the surrounding area. Since its inception, your Kappa League programs have motivated and inspired many young African American males. The Kappa Community Development Foundation which awards scholarships to local students, funds the Kappa League programs and supports other community endeavors, has also made a great impact in our area.
Again, congratulations on the celebration of your 45th Annual Metro Founders Day. Please know that you have my support as you continue your great work with our youth throughout Montgomery County.
Very truly yours,
Will Jawando Councilmember At-Large
