The Province Polemarch’s Founders’ Day Message
As we observe the 110th anniversary of Kappa Alpha Psi’s founding, let us be ever mindful that our noble clan’s survival has been shaped by sacrifice. We are the bearers of the torch and to that end, we must remember and honor the service and toil of those who have given freely of their personal gifts to advance our fundamental purpose: ACHIEVEMENT.
We are the proud beneficiaries of our founding fathers’ vision, fidelity, determination, generosity, and inspiration. To those who aspire to earn their rightful inclusion in Kappa’s honor roll of unsung heroes, today affords us an opportunity to look inward so that we can discern our stewardship to our fraternity’s overall growth and development. In addition, we are reminded of the directive to strive for excellence, charged as we are by our revered founders. The Metro Chapters theme “Revitalizing the Dream, Reenergizing the Bond” is the call to renew our level of commitment—individually and collectively—to the attainment of our basic goals and objectives.
This moment of reflection should be viewed as a time for more than simply noting the 110 years of our existence. It should also be looked upon as an occasion for recalling the defining periods in our illustrious history, the good memories shared, the challenges overcome, and our unbreakable bond‘s passionate advocates who have left an indelible impression along the way.
Perhaps our survival as a superior fraternal organization will be shaped by our noteworthy accomplishments in the various fields of human endeavor. As we continue to chart our new course during these challenging times, let us recall the service, dedication, and devotion of those who have given so freely of their time, talents, and resources over the years. In the time- honored tradition of this annual observance, we pause in January to acknowledge where we have been and reenergize to forge on the possibilities that lead to the continued survival of our brotherhood.
Yours in the Bond,
Charles E. Exum, Jr.
