As the building belongs to a university
project, it provides for needs of students,
university staff and visiting scholars,
housing being one of them. This building
can integrate a part of this need for the
universities while also providing rooms
for newcomers. Besides housing, the
layout of the building and the existence
of the backyard provide for a range of
complementary activities. They can be
organized by different groups of people,
and at different times of the day. For
example, workshop rooms can be used
during the day for student projects,
while in the evening they can be used
for the organization of activities or
events for inhabitants of the building,
neighbours, and/or a wider public.
Throughout the day, the building is both
accessible from the front door as well
as from the garden side. It is divided
into different corridors; some are only
accessible for inhabitants. A variety
of rooms connecting to either central
corridors and/or the backyard can be
reserved for the organization of meetings
or events; the bar and the library are open
all day long without access restrictions.
